At Metzeschmelz, the development of the future neighborhood is accompanied by a special focus on existing biodiversity. Before the next phases of the project begin, concrete measures are being implemented to protect the species found on the site.
During an on-site visit, the teams were able to observe the measures implemented to protect, in particular, the lizard populations that are especially abundant on this brownfield site. AGORA commissioned the specialized firm LSC360 to oversee the ecological aspects of the project.
Among the key measures is the controlled relocation of lizards to the Lallengerberg, an environment better suited to their development. This operation, carried out with precision and respect for the species, is complemented by the installation of protective devices along the fences. These measures are designed to prevent the animals from returning to the areas designated for future construction work.
Although these initiatives are often not very visible to the general public, they are nonetheless essential. They exemplify a comprehensive approach to urban planning that is not limited to infrastructure but also incorporates the preservation of biodiversity.
At Metzeschmelz, every stage of the project is part of a responsible approach aimed at creating a neighborhood that is ambitious, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.
