On October 26, Maison Metzeschmelz (Bâtiment V) hosted the 2nd Planners Day Metzeschmelz, an AGORA initiative where everyone involved with the project’s planning could meet and talk about any challenges they are facing and share updates on any work that is currently underway.

Among the participants were representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning and the Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as city planners from Ville d’Esch-sur-Alzette and the Municipality of Schifflange.

Also in attendance were a number of project-specific experts from recognized design and consulting firms, such as Zebralog, Yellowball, Schroeder & Associés, Zeyen + Baumann, Bunusevac, Belvédère, Biotope, Luxplan, IDES, ArcelorMittal, Sudstroum, +ImpaKT, Cobe, Urban Agency, and FÖA Landschaftsplanung.

A portion of the day was devoted to presentations on the project’s progress, the masterplan, and the design manuals, the citizen participation process, and the “Symbiosis” study. The current state of the study on the urban programme was also presented.

On top of that, discussion workshops allowed for an in-depth exploration of special-interest topics, such as ground-floor planning, Alzette river renaturation strategies and planning aspects of the parks, and mobility challenges.

We would like to thank all those involved for their valuable contribution to this day and to the Metzeschmelz project. They brought a wealth of knowledge to the day’s workshops and discussions.
