Participation still possible until 30 November 2021
The municipalities of Esch-sur-Alzette and Schifflange are organising a major citizens' competition. The aim is to find a name for the new quarter to be built on the wasteland of the former Esch-Schifflange steelworks site.
Every citizen living in one of the two municipalities can take part.
Participation is possible online (https://bit.ly/30lKvvb) or by post with the form that was sent to all citizens of Esch and Schifflange in the past few days. The deadline for participation is 30 November 2021.
There are attractive prizes to be won, such as an e-scooter (1st place), a night for two in the "Escher Bamhaisern" (2nd place) or a shopping voucher worth 150 euros for shops in Esch-sur-Alzette or Schifflange (3rd place).
Agora, as the development company responsible for the new neighbourhood, will be represented on the jury.
Profile of the future district:
The new neighbourhood is located on the border between the town of Esch-sur-Alzette and the municipality of Schifflange and will in future connect the Lalléngerbierg nature reserve with the Am Pudel and Am Brill nature reserves.
The future neighbourhood will have a high functional mix. Around 50 % of the area is earmarked for housing, 30 % of which will be affordable housing. In the future, 10,000 people are expected to live in the new quadrangle. Other uses are planned for tertiary activities, services and and small and medium enterprises. Several public facilities such as schools and a high school are also planned.
